The reason why it has been named Stratford-Upon-Avon is due to the fact that the town of Stratford lies on the river that is named Avon. The river holds great value as many tourists come to visit this historical landmark. Avon runs for a total of twenty two miles and meets the town of Birmingham to the South Eastern side. Why is this town so famous? It is because the county of Warwickshire where it is located is the place where the famous writer and novelist, William Shakespeare was born.
